The School Committee of North Smithfield Public Schools, Rhode Island invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The North Smithfield School Committee and staff are completing year five of their 2011-2016 School Department Strategic Plan. The District’s mission and vision statements reflect strong guiding beliefs, including preparing each student to be a successful and responsible member of society, and working in partnership with the community to meet the educational needs of all students. The District takes pride in providing a safe educational environment which fosters active, challenging learning experiences designed to support every child in reaching his/her potential. District staff set high expectations and provide quality resources, curriculum and instruction. The North Smithfield School District serves approximately 1,700 students and the 2015-16 budget is $25,347,533. The candidate applying for this position must be a dynamic educational leader with district-wide experience, a leader with vision who encourages a team effort, a thoughtful and knowledgeable curriculum leader, an effective communicator, and a prudent fiscal manager. Central office administrative experience is preferred but not required. A license as a superintendent of schools in Rhode Island is required. An earned doctorate is desired, but not mandatory.
