Fran Rabinowitz, Executive Director of CAPSS, Receives Distinguished 2018 Connecticut Champion of Children Award

Hartford, CT- (May 9, 2018)– Executive Director of CAPSS, Fran Rabinowitz, was honored by the Center for Children’s Advocacy at their Spring for Kids Connecticut Champion of Children Awards at Infinity Music Hall in Hartford on Tuesday evening, May 8th, 2018.
The Champion of Children Awards are presented to Connecticut leaders who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the improving of lives of impoverished and vulnerable children in our state.
“Ms. Rabinowitz has demonstrated vision, courage and passion in her forceful advocacy for the educational needs of every student,” according to a press release released by the Center for Children’s Advocacy.
“I am grateful to receive this recognition on behalf of all the dedicated professionals that I have worked with who advocate for our most vulnerable children each and every day.”
Fran Rabinowitz was named Executive Director of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents in June 2017. Most recently she served as Interim Superintendent of the Bridgeport Public Schools and has been a classroom teacher, district administrator, Associate Commissioner of Education for the State of Connecticut, and Superintendent of the Hamden Public Schools in the past as well. Fran Rabinowitz has been a respected educational leader in the state for over 30 years.
The Center for Children’s Advocacy is the largest children’s legal rights organization in New England. They focus on protecting and defending abused and neglected children, improving child health, supporting teens and homeless youth, improving educational success, and helping immigrant children, to name a few.
CAPSS is an organization that represents all the superintendents and leaders of public schools in Connecticut. Their mission is to lead the continuous improvement of public education for all students by advocating public policy and developing and supporting executive school leaders.
