capss' innovation committee
We are a group of superintendents planning for the innovations in education needed for a fundamental transformation of schools.
The core ideas are:
- provide venues (both digital platforms and in-person gatherings) for defining and sharing innovative practices.
- begin forming policy recommendations for the 2019 Legislative session -- specifically garnering support for formal recognition of Schools of Innovation (including potential waivers from certain CTSDE mandates)
- raising the profile of public schools as centers of innovations, preparing youth for the challenges and opportunities of the mid-to-late 21st Century [in contrast to Charter programs]
The CTSOI met in Guilford on August 3, 2017 to plan a year of activities and events.
Chris Clouet met with Prof. Sharon Oster at Yale's School of Management on Aug. 14, 2017. A follow-up meeting with Prof. Oster and a group of MBA students took place on October 11, 2017 including Alan Addley, Sal Menzo and Chris Clouet.
On Sept. 22, 2017, the CTSOI group met in Wallingford to learn about the district's Dream/Design/Do Lab; in addition, we had a conversation with the leadership from the Office of Innovation in Arkansas, which is moving quickly to move their state ahead.
